Imagine the Difference
 

Imagine the Difference Foundation exists to ensure donors can give to any 501(c)(3) without fees.  When a donor gives to an organization that has not yet claimed its NetGiver profile and connected a financial account, the donation is made as a tax-deductible gift to Imagine the Difference Foundation. This allows donors to give seamlessly to any nonprofit nationwide while still facilitating donations and encouraging nonprofits to enroll on the only platform where they receive 100% direct donations.

 
  • The Imagine the Difference Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2024. Its mission is to serve as a bridge for donors who wish to support nonprofits through the NetGiver platform. Donations to nonprofits that have connected their accounts to NetGiver are transferred directly. For nonprofits that have not connected, the donor's contribution is made to the Imagine the Difference Foundation, which ensures the donation is delivered in full to the intended nonprofit either via direct transfer or check. 

  • When a donor contributes to a nonprofit not yet connected to NetGiver, the Imagine the Difference Foundation first receives the donation. The Foundation then contacts the intended nonprofit, notifying them of the pending donation.

    • If the nonprofit connects its account: The donation is transferred via an ACH transaction through NetGiver.

    • If the nonprofit does not connect within 90 days: The Foundation sends the donation to the nonprofit via check.

    This process ensures that donor intent is honored, and all donations are transferred without fees for the donor or the nonprofit.

  • For nonprofits without a connected account, donations are sent under the following conditions:

    1. Account Connection: If the nonprofit connects its account on NetGiver, the donation is transferred within 10 business days with subsequent donations sent directly on a traditional ACH schedule .

    2. Donation Threshold: If the accumulated donations for the nonprofit exceed $5,000, a check is sent within one week of reaching this threshold.

    3. Annual Disbursal: Once a year, all donations received by the Foundation will be disbursed to the intended nonprofit.  Donations received less than a month prior to the disbursement date will not be included to allow time for the nonprofit to first enroll on the platform.  These donations will be included in the next disbursal.

    4. Initial Donation:  The first donation to a nonprofit organization not connected to NetGiver will be passed along to the intended recipient via check within 45 days of receiving the donation if the nonprofit organization does not connect its account during that period.

    This timeline balances the need for timely delivery with the opportunity for nonprofits to connect to NetGiver, keeping expenses limited to continue to allow fee-free donations.

  • Yes, donors are notified if the nonprofit they wish to support has not yet connected its account to NetGiver. In such cases, donors are informed that their contribution will be made as a tax-deductible gift to the Imagine the Difference Foundation. The Foundation will either transfer the donation in full once the nonprofit enrolls with NetGiver or, if the nonprofit does not enroll, send accrued donations by check at predetermined intervals.

As a result, donations made to the Foundation are fully tax-deductible and treated as charitable contributions, just as if they were given directly to the intended nonprofit.

Any interest accrued while holding donations is solely used to offset the administrative costs of facilitating the donation process. Neither individuals nor companies receive any salary or revenue from the Imagine the Difference Foundation.

  • Nonprofits can easily enroll by going to https://app.netgiverapp.com. The enrollment process ensures they can receive future donations directly and without delay.

  • If the Foundation cannot contact a nonprofit due to invalid information or other barriers, it will make multiple attempts to notify the organization. If the nonprofit remains unreachable, the donation will be held until contact is established, with regular efforts made to fulfill donor intent.
